The renowned musician and composer Omar Rahbani and his ensemble performed a spectacular concert in Paris titled “Timbre Libanais”, organized by Stouh Beirut Association in collaboration with Centerstage, Mir’a, and Rahbani 3.0. The concert was a resounding success, with the Cortot Hall packed with Lebanese expatriates, friends of Lebanon, and cultural enthusiasts. The event was attended by the Chargé d’Affaires of the Lebanese Embassy in France, Ziad Ta’aan, along with several Arab ambassadors, including Egypt’s Alaa Youssef, Algeria’s Said Moussi, Jordan’s Lina Al-Hadeed, and Kuwait’s Mohammad Al-Judei.
The event was opened by Stouh Beirut founder and president, journalist Dalia Dagher, with a quote from renowned Lebanese writer Khalil Gibran:
“The chemist who can extract mercy, respect, eagerness, patience, regret, wonder, and forgiveness from his heart and merge them into one element can invent the atom called love!”
Dagher highlighted the challenges faced by Lebanese youth striving for a better future abroad and the concerns of elderly citizens in Lebanon. She emphasized that, despite these hardships, small gestures filled with music, dance, and compassion as exemplified by this event embody the harmonious blend of culture and humanity, likening Stouh Beirut to a musical symphony that erases worries.
She also reminded attendees of the association’s mission, noting that this initiative will help provide healthcare, educational opportunities, and essential support to Lebanese families in need, particularly children. Dagher praised the enduring commitment of the Lebanese diaspora to support their homeland, not just financially, but through appreciation of music, culture, and the arts. She described Omar Rahbani as a vivid symbol of Lebanon, conveying love, nostalgia, and pride through his music.
Stouh Beirut highlighted that the concert’s proceeds will go to support the most vulnerable families in Lebanon. This Paris performance marked Omar Rahbani’s first concert in the city, with another scheduled for March 9 at Alhambra Hall in Geneva.
