From Dialogue to Legislation: Femmes du Soleil Takes a Step Forward in Advancing Women’s Rights in Lebanon
As part of its ongoing commitment to advancing women’s rights and addressing the challenges women continue to face in the workplace and across society, the Femmes du Soleil Center in Dhour El Choueir hosted a roundtable discussion entitled “Women’s Challenges at Work.”
The discussion brought together H.E. Ambassador Mira Daher, MP Dr. Halima Kaakour, and Judge Samaranda Nassar, and was moderated by Dalia Dagher, President of Stouh Beirut Association.
The event was attended by former Minister Dr. Ghada Chreim, representatives of Lebanon’s General Security and Internal Security Forces, as well as prominent media professionals, women leaders, activists, and representatives of various institutions.
Through diplomatic, legislative, and judicial perspectives, the speakers addressed key challenges facing women in the workplace, including wage discrimination, unequal opportunities, existing legislative gaps, and the need for stronger legal protection.
Beyond raising awareness, the discussion marked an important step towards action. Participants agreed to build on the outcomes of the roundtable and work towards developing a comprehensive draft law aimed at strengthening women’s rights, promoting equality, addressing wage disparities, and ensuring equal opportunities and better legal protection in the workplace.
The recommendations will be further developed into a legislative proposal, with the aim of submitting it to the relevant legislative authorities.
At Femmes du Soleil, we believe that meaningful change begins with dialogue but must lead to concrete action. This initiative reflects our commitment to bringing together expertise, institutions, and decision-makers to turn discussions into practical solutions and lasting progress.
From dialogue to legislation, and from demands for equality to tangible change.
