UN Women Representative Gielan Elmessiri Visits “Stouh Beirut” Offices

The UN Women Representative in Lebanon, Ms. Gielan Elmessiri, visited the offices of Stouh Beirut Association, where she met with the President of the Association, Ms. Dalia Dagher, along with members of the board and the association’s team.

The visit, which lasted over two hours, provided an opportunity to learn about Stouh Beirut’s journey over the years and its key programs, particularly its work in supporting women and enhancing their role in society through its new project “Femmes du Soleil (Women of the Sun)” in Dhour El Choueir.

Ms. Dagher presented a detailed overview of the “Femmes du Soleil” project, highlighting its objectives, impact, and future development plans.

The meeting also included an in-depth discussion on the situation of women in Lebanon and the social, economic, and legal challenges they face, as well as potential areas of cooperation between Stouh Beirut and UN Women, especially in supporting women-led initiatives and empowering women across different regions.

Ms. Elmessiri praised the work of Stouh Beirut and its positive impact on the Lebanese community in all its diversity, emphasizing the vital role of civil society organizations in reaching the most vulnerable women, and expressing openness to future collaboration and partnership between UN Women and Stouh Beirut
